This Privacy Policy explains how Nicholas Stassen, a sole proprietor doing business as Roost Ledger ("we," "us," or "our"), collects, uses, and protects information when you use roostledger.com (the "Service").

2. Information We Collect

We collect only what is necessary to provide the Service:

• Email address. When you sign in via our passwordless magic-link authentication, we store your email address to identify your account. No password is ever created or stored.
• Session cookie. After authentication we issue an HttpOnly session cookie to keep you signed in. This is an essential functional cookie; it is not used for advertising or cross-site tracking.
• Uploaded CSV data. When you upload an Airbnb transaction-history CSV file, it is processed transiently in server memory to generate your reconciliation summary. The uploaded file and its contents are not stored or persisted after processing; they are discarded when the request completes.
• Payment information. Subscription payments are processed by Stripe. Roost Ledger does not store, see, or have access to your credit card number or other payment-card data. Stripe's handling of that data is governed by Stripe's Privacy Policy.

3. How We Use Your Information

• To authenticate you and maintain your session.
• To deliver the reconciliation summary based on your uploaded CSV.
• To send you transactional emails (magic-link sign-in, account notices).
• To manage your subscription and communicate billing-related information.
• To comply with applicable law.

We do not sell your personal information to third parties. We do not use your data for behavioral advertising.

4. Third-Party Service Providers

We share data with the following processors only as necessary to operate the Service:

• Stripe — payment processing and subscription billing. Stripe receives the data required to charge your payment method and manage your subscription.
• Resend — transactional email delivery. Resend receives your email address in order to deliver magic-link and account emails on our behalf.

We do not share your data with any other third party except as required by law.

5. Cookies

The Service uses a single essential HttpOnly session cookie to keep you logged in. You may disable cookies in your browser, but doing so will prevent you from signing in. When advertising is enabled, the site uses Google advertising cookies to measure ad performance and conversion; these are only active when the site is running paid ads.

6. Data Retention

• Account data (email address): retained for as long as your account is active. If you request account deletion, we will remove your email address promptly.
• Uploaded CSVs: not retained — processed transiently and discarded.
• Subscription records: Stripe retains billing history per their own retention policies.

7. Your Rights

You may request access to, correction of, or deletion of any personal information we hold about you by emailing support@roostledger.com. We will respond within a reasonable time.

8. Children's Privacy

The Service is not directed to children under 13 (or under 18 where applicable law requires a higher age threshold). We do not knowingly collect personal information from minors. If you believe a minor has provided us information, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.

9. Data Security

We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your information, including TLS encryption for data in transit. No method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure; we cannot guarantee absolute security.

10. International Transfers

Roost Ledger is based in Ohio, USA. If you access the Service from outside the United States, your information may be transferred to and processed in the United States, where data-protection laws may differ from those in your jurisdiction.

11. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Your continued use of the Service after any update constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
